The Wake Forest University (WFU) Athletic Bands consist of the Marching Band and the Pep Bands and are collectively referred to as the SPIRIT OF THE OLD GOLD AND BLACK (SOTOGAB).

The SOTOGAB is part of the Wake Forest University Athletic Department / Music Department and is one of the largest organizations on campus consisting of students from all over the world, every level of academic growth and almost every field of study offered at Wake Forest University.

As the oldest college marching band in North Carolina, the SOTOGAB is the heart and soul of the Demon Deacon cheering section.  On a campus of just over 7,000 total students (undergraduate, graduate and professional schools combined), the members of the SOTOGAB are a collection of the finest and most dedicated Demon Deacons and work hard every week to provide the optimum example of Wake Forest pride.

It is this ” . . . passion that defies explanation” that inspires the SOTOGAB to continually strive for excellence in musical performance and showmanship in order to guarantee that game day is always full of energy. That is what makes us the SPIRIT OF THE OLD GOLD AND BLACK!
