About

“A passion that defies explanation. . .”

Welcome fellow Demon Deacons!

The Spirit of the Old Gold and Black (SOTOGAB) is comprised of Wake Forest University’s elite marching, pep, and basketball bands. Additionally, SOTOGAB is the oldest college marching band in North Carolina and is a nationally recognized ACC Conference athletic band program. Any time a football game, basketball game, pep rally, or other athletic event happens, fans can count on seeing and hearing the SOTOGAB perform. Essentially, you could say that we are at the heart and soul of all things Wake Forest.

Students in SOTOGAB hail from all majors, musical interests, cultures, and walks of life. Some of our outstanding members also come to us from colleges hosting the Shared Experience Program at Wake Forest (such as Salem College, Forsyth Technical Community College, and more). In other words, we are a diverse, highly dedicated group of young people whose mission is to create and appreciate the best in music.

This website is dedicated to all past, present, and future members of SOTOGAB as well as our outstanding sponsors, volunteers, staff, and fans. Thank you all for your contributions to the Spirit of the Old Gold and Black, and, as always, go Deacs!

Musically,

Dr. C. Kevin Bowen, Director of Bands

Dr. Brandon Robinson, Associate Director of Bands
